bed bugIn recent years, bed bugs thrive in Montreal. Bedbugs cause problems for humans and pets because they feed on blood by biting their victims.

Bedbugs are brownish insects visible to the naked eye. Their average size is about four millimetres (1/8 inch). They are active and visible at night, and are usually found along the seams of mattresses.

• Itching and presence of bites on the skin, especially on the arms, legs and the back.
• Presence of black spots on the seams of mattresses, walls and appliances.
• Presence of blood on sheets and pillows.

Bed bugs can be carried in suitcases or handbags, with clothing, furniture and especially mattresses. They can also spread from one dwelling to another.
